Here in the United States, science is an incredibly important realm of study. In fact, STEM fields are even expected to grow by very nearly fifteen percent in the coming years. But science is not just important for those who ultimately decide to go into the field. Science matters for those who simply take it in grade school, middle school, and high school as well. Teaching different courses of science, from biology to chemistry to meteorology, is important for the development of the thinking mind, and can help students – even those who might not be all too enthused about their science classes in the first place – to learn important critical thinking and problem solving skills.

However, science lab supplies are essential, especially the older that a student gets. Science lab supplies will look different for every branch of science, but each classroom should be fully equippemd with whatever science lab supplies are deemed to be necessary. Without science lab supplies, after all, it is far too likely that students will not get the hands on learning that they need. In fact, more than half of all students, more than sixty percent, even, would consider themselves to be visual and hands on learners. If they aren’t given the chance to actually apply what they have learned, then much of that new and important information is likely to, unfortunately, become lost.

Science lab supplies like the microscope have become particularly important in the typical science classroom. The microscope is a tool that is tried and true, dating back as far as the 1860s. It was during this time that Louis Pasteur first used a microscope to identify the microscopic organisms that he was only able to see with the lens of a microscope and began making the connection that these organisms were responsible in many ways for the spread of disease. While our medical science has progressed quite a bit since those days (as one would hope that it would), these early looks under the microscope were instrumental for the way that the study of medicine has developed ever since.

Today, there are a number of kinds of microscopes making up science lab supplies for schools as well as in professional laboratories. The compound microscope is one of them, defined by the fact that this microscope has two sets of convex lenses instead of just one. When talking about microscope supplies, it is often the compound microscope that is being referred to. In part, this is because the magnification powers of the typical compound microscope are so impressive, ranging from anywhere from 40x to 100x, though only when combined with 10x eyepieces. On its own, the average compound microscope will still be able to magnify things quite impressively.

Hot plates are also important science lab supplies, particularly chem lab supplies. Chemistry lab supplies, because of the nature of the study of chemistry, are likely to be at least a little different than the science lab supplies used in other branches of science. For instance, the use of the hot plate is particularly common in the field of chemistry. A hot plate is portable, with either an electric or gas burner, which makes it incredibly convenient to use. Hot plates used in school settings, if they are electrical hot plates, can present a safe alternative to a gas burner and can provide additional resources in an especially large class where there might not be enough traditional burners to go around. However, it is important to be very careful when using a hot plate regardless, as many hot plates can reach temperatures that are as high as seven hundred and fifty degrees Celsius.

Science, and all of its branches, is an incredibly important field of study. There is really no doubt about this. But in order to study science, you will need the right science lab supplies. From the microscope to the hot plate to the flasks to the bunsen burner, all of the tools used in lab space will make studying science easier.
